Welcome to the Architected Metamaterials Group!

Our research lies in the broad areas of mechanics and physics of materialsas well as constitutive modelling and topology optimization. The current focus is mechanical metamaterials and reconfigurable structures with both stiff and soft architectures, including lattices, kirigami, origami, and pneumatic architectures. 

We target the fundamental understanding of metamaterials, their mechanics, and multiphysics by integrating theoretical and computational approaches, as well as various fabrication and testing methods. With these insights, we strive to innovate, design, optimize, fabricate, and test metamaterials with remarkable functional responses. Whenever possible, we translate them into advanced technology for application in various sectors, such as aerospace, packaging, deployable structures, and soft robotics.
