Damiano is invited to lead a panel with Ben Fitzgerald (Director of Operations, Aston Martin Formula One) on the design process of Aston Martin car and the use of the mechanical metamaterials developed with his group as a potential solution for a greener F1 car technology

Damiano received the Christophe Pierre Award for Research Excellence of the Faculty of Engineering at McGill. This award recognizes excellence in research by a faculty member in the Faculty of Engineering.

The Conversation publisher solicited Damiano to write an article on reprogrammable matter. The article entitled “ How a futuristic material is able to change its properties from soft to rigid, and back again” presents morphing reprogrammability as a material strategy to achieved multifunctionality.
